A city with its own name
North Las Vegas is a separately incorporated city, not a north-side neighborhood of Las Vegas. Thomas L. Williams founded it in 1919 as a farming community, it incorporated as a city on May 1, 1946, and it's now Nevada's fourth-largest city: the Census Bureau estimated 296,653 residents in 2025, across 102.37 square miles.
From a gunnery school to an air base
During World War II, the Las Vegas Aerial Gunnery School opened here; over the years it grew into Nellis Air Force Base. North Las Vegas Airport, established in 1941 as Sky Haven Airport, still operates today, running Grand Canyon tours among other things. If you're looking at a home near Nellis, ask about noise restrictions or flight easements before you offer. They're usually part of what a seller has to disclose.
Aliante and the planned communities
Aliante is a master-planned community inside North Las Vegas, with its own casino and a public library that opened in 2006. Aliante Nature Discovery Park, with its lake, is one of the area's gathering spots, and it's also where this page's photo comes from: an actual park in the city, not a generic stock shot.
Getting around
The 215 Beltway's northern end sits in North Las Vegas and connects to Summerlin to the west and Henderson to the south, with a direct connector to Harry Reid International Airport.
How I can help in North Las Vegas
I've worked this valley since 2010, license S.0192434.LLC with Signature Real Estate Group. I tend to see more new construction here than in other parts of the valley. If that's you, we'll go through the builder's contract together before you sign, not just the list price. Reach out.
